For me growing up (over 30 years ago) and every other child I knew getting a kinder egg was a great treat. Opening the chocolate to reveal the yellow capsule inside then trying to guess what it contained.
At one point they did a set of terrapins inside which I personally loved and managed to collect them all.
Children today still love like myself to open up the chocolate reveal the yellow egg and guess or even make what is inside
The eggs themselves do carry a warning that they are not suitable for children under the age of three years old for a child over three I believe these eggs are perfectly safe. The yellow capsule holding the toy is too large for a small child to swallow, and is almost impossible for adults, let alone children, to open easily.
overall the Kinder egg has been responsible for three fatalities in 40 years according to Wikipedia, which when you consider how many of these are sold world wide is a pretty low chance of injury.
So I was surprised to read a article saying that this memory of my childhood that is still available for sale today to young children over 30 years on has been banned in America for fear that the child eating it may choke on the yellow capsule or toy inside.
Yet the sale of firearms is considered fine and no restrictions are placed on the purchase of these deadly weapons despite tens of thousands of deaths and injuries annually from gun violence across the United States of America. In light of the recent shootings in Las Vagus in which 59 people have been killed and over 500 injured is it not time that America looked at what really is doing the most damage within there country a chocolate egg and small toy is illegal yet a firearm isn’t.
